Energy is crucial for creating development, and renewable energy is an important way of increasing energy access without increasing greenhouse gas emissions.
When 60% of global greenhouse gas emissions are related to energy production and consumption, there is a great potential for making a positive impact through increased use of renewable energy and energi efficiency.
Energy is a topic that is being discussed in relation to sustainable development, in relation to the new development agenda after 2015, and the Sustainable Energy for All (SE4All) initiative was launched by the UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon.
