Environment 2002 The Norwegian Petroleum Sector

The objective of the Ministry's environmental publication is to broaden public knowledge about environmental effects from petroleum operations on the Norwegian continental shelf.

Environment 2002 consist of a factual section which presents the status of emissions and discharges, including efforts by the authorities to limit the environmental impact of various emissions and discharges from Norway's offshore activities. This year's topic section focuses on "Oil and fish – common sea".

Preserving the natural environment is an integral part of Norway's energy policy. Good knowledge of environmental effects from petroleum activities on the continental shelf is accordingly important, and Environment 2002 represents a contribution to this.
