I would like to extend my warmest congratulations on winning the election.

The United Kingdom and Norway have always enjoyed excellent bilateral relations based on common values and objectives. We work together to promote multilateralism and a rules-based international order. We are close and long-standing allies, and share a deep commitment to our common security.

The United Kingdom is one of Norway’s most important trading partners. Norway would like to maintain the deepest and most comprehensive relationship possible with the United Kingdom after its withdrawal from the European Union and, consequently, from our common regulatory framework within the European Economic Area.

I look forward to continuing to work with you, and to developing the future relationship of our two countries.

I wish you every success in the important tasks that lie ahead.
